Vital Spaces" addresses the issue of the spatial rootedness of Third Sector activities, with a focus on its relationship to generational renewal. It finds its roots in the empirical research and training activities of an interdisciplinary working group on 'welfare places'. Within them are undoubtedly expressed interpretations of social utility, of the role of the individual in promoting it, and of the relations of proximity, which are now asserting themselves in national society. This raises the question to which the text attempts to lay the foundations for a collective discussion: how much could public and private welfare organisations be inspired by these experiences (then how ready are they to do so)?.
